Let's go fly a kite...

Last weekend we had a gorgeous Sunday after a full week of COLD temperatures! So we took advantage and went to the park. I got the kids their first kites a while back, and we finally had a day to put them to use. Bridgette & Aiden were so excited to open them up and fly them. The excitement lasted about 10 minutes for Aiden, and then he got bored and ran to the playground. Bridgette went back and forth from playground to daddy... couldn't decide which was more fun. Either way, we got some great photos from that afternoon. Enjoy :)

 ok, it's time to go...

and then Aiden drives us home ;)

DIY Family

Even though we're in a brand new house, it doesn't stop my urge to be doing a "project"! Bob loves it! (insert sarcastic voice) Our last project was our bedroom. It's been a work in progress, but we've painted the walls, built a fabric bench for the foot of the bed, and built a headboard for cheap! (oh, and there's some artwork on the night stands by yours truly) ;) The headboard has been our favorite I think. We've been talking about doing this for some time, but didn't really know how it would turn out. We wanted a "weathered wood" look without the price. Here's what we did:

With chains, hammers, an axe, etc... we beat the wood.

Then we primed the wood, and painted it a light brown (something we had from the house)

Then Bob wiped stain on it with a rag (with a little helper watching)

and our other little helper

Once it dried, we hung it up in our room... TA-DA!

Say what??

Kids say the darndest things, and our 2yr old and 3yr old are no different. There have been too many funny moments lately not to share. And I know if I don't write them down somewhere I will forget these cute little moments & words!

While driving home from lunch and the grocery store, Bridgette and Bob had this conversation:
Bridgette: "Daddy, while I'm napping, you need to download some games on your phone."
Bob: "We aren't playing games during nap time."
Bridgette: "I'm not going to play them. You need to find them and download them first... then after they load I can play them."
(both of us are laughing in the front seat!)
Bob: "How do you know we have to download them? How do you even know that word?"
Bridgette: "Because that's how we can play them."

After agreeing to let the kids wear pajamas to target (they saw a boy in his pj's a few days prior and thought it was so cool), this is what was said in the backseat:
Bridgette: (giggling) "Mom, this is the best day ever!"
hahaha! Who would've thought pj's to the store at noon would be so fun!?

Then, while in Target... I was looking at work-out dvd's, and Bridgette pointed to a yoga one:
Bridgette: "Mom you need this one."
Me: "Why that one?"
Bridgette: "Because you have pants and a bra (sports bra) like that and you need to wear it."
Aiden: "Me want bra too"
Bridgette: "No, only girls wear bras"
Aiden: "No, me wear bra too"
It was hilarious! Probably even more so because there was another lady next to us, hearing the whole conversation and laughing!

And then last night Aiden was singing "Happy Birthday" to lots of people/things... from his "crabby" picture on the wall, Walt (friend down the street - we went to his birthday this weekend), Mommy, Daddy, etc. And each song ended in "Yayyyy" with clapping. These are some of the best mommy moments to listen to!

And last, not so much a conversation as a word that's in both of their vocabularies. "Ya'll" I didn't even pay attention to it until people started noticing and pointing it out. I've either passed down the "Texas" gene, or they're hanging out with mommy too much. I love it though!

I know there are more I'm forgetting, but at least I have these documented. I'm going to try and be better about blogging and writing these things down so I can go back and read to the kids later.

So, as the kids say: "Bye Ya'll!" :)

Christmas Part II

After the festivities in Frisco, we headed to Houston for Christmas with Bob's family. We had a few relaxing days down there to play with everybody. Vovo & Vovo even hosted a block party one night, so Bob and his dad got plenty of grill time in! The kids also got to roast their first marshmallows! We are so thankful that we're close enough to see them often! And even more thankful at how much the kids love each other! You'll be able to see that in the pictures for sure...

The girls are as "girly" as ever, and we had a little fancy nancy dress up session!

A White Christmas

This Christmas was the first one where we didn't rush out of town until after the 25th. We decided to stay around town, play with the kids, relax, and just enjoy the holiday in our new house. We stayed in our pj's, watched movies, went boot shopping with the kids, and finally took Bridgette to Gatti-town for her potty-training reward - yes, we really needed to slow down! We had family in town Christmas Eve, enjoyed watching the kids come down the stairs to see what Santa brought Christmas morning, and then enjoyed watching the rain quickly turn to SNOW on Christmas Day! We had a full on WHITE CHRISTMAS up here! The kids loved seeing the snow, and kept asking to build "frosty" in our yard! Enjoy the pics!
Christmas morning fun... Uncle Jared & Aunt Jenn stayed the night
to see all the excitement in the morning :)

fun in the snow!
