Aiden's Dirt Birthday Party

What does Aiden like more than anything these days? Trucks and dirt. So we decided to throw Aiden a "dirt" birthday party. We had all the construction trucks out, filled 2 pools with sand for digging, and even had a dirty ice cream bar. It rained the whole day, so we had to move the party to the garage... but it worked out just fine! The kids seemed to have a good time, and the hard hats were a hit. Thanks to everyone who came to help celebrate our little boy! 

 

Aiden turns TWO!

How is it that these last 2 years have flown by so fast!?? Last weekend Aiden turned 2! TWO! The weeks leading up to his birthday hit me a little differently than it had with Bridgette. The "rocks" to sleep and cuddles at night have pulled at my heart a bit... he's not my baby anymore. (of course he'll always be my baby... they both will) but he's turning into such a big boy. 

We started out the morning of his birthday with a surprise visit from Mimi... and sprinkle donuts! 

Then Vovo & VooVoo... and Sandra, Ava & Alex came up that afternoon. 

Up, Up, and Away...

Last weekend we took the kids to the Plano Balloon Festival, and we had such a good time. The weather turned out to be beautiful (unlike last year) so all the balloons were able to "glow" and take off. Now, you have to be committed if you're going to see this. The festival goes on all day, but I think the best part is in the morning... right as the sun is rising... and you get to see all of these balloons inflate, glow, and take off. So we set our alarms for 5:30, made coffee, packed some snacks & the wagon, and then loaded the kids in the car in their pj's. They were half asleep still and just kept looking at us like "what are we doing!? It's still dark outside!?" We got there, got good seats and just waited...

insert random story: as we were parking, we pulled right behind a car that was unloading... I turned to Bob and said "I think that's Kelly!?" and sure enough... she and John were there with their kids too. they were good friends of ours in Lake Highlands, and what a random place (and hour!) to run into them! So we got to sit together and catch up with the kids :)

And then after they all took off, we were able to walk onto the field. The kids got to get up close and personal with the balloons, and then we were right there when others were landing. Pretty fun experience and fun to watch the kids faces. They liked everything except the "fire" inside the balloons.

Jared gets hitched!

(this is a little late)... but my brother got MARRIED! It's so funny to see a ring on Jared's hand. But he finally did it... he's married! And I am so happy for him and Jenn. She's a pretty amazing girl, she makes Jared grin bigger than I've ever seen, the kids LOVE her, and I get another sis-in-law (bonus!) :) Their wedding was at the Trinity River Audoban Center, and it was just beautiful.
