Last weekend we took the kids to the Plano Balloon Festival, and we had such a good time. The weather turned out to be beautiful
(unlike last year) so all the balloons were able to "glow" and take off. Now, you have to be committed if you're going to see this. The festival goes on all day, but I think the best part is in the morning... right as the sun is rising... and you get to see all of these balloons inflate, glow, and take off. So we set our alarms for 5:30, made coffee, packed some snacks & the wagon, and then loaded the kids in the car in their pj's. They were half asleep still and just kept looking at us like "what are we doing!? It's still dark outside!?" We got there, got good seats and just waited...
insert random story: as we were parking, we pulled right behind a car that was unloading... I turned to Bob and said "I think that's Kelly!?" and sure enough... she and John were there with their kids too. they were good friends of ours in Lake Highlands, and what a random place (and hour!) to run into them! So we got to sit together and catch up with the kids :)
And then after they all took off, we were able to walk onto the field. The kids got to get up close and personal with the balloons, and then we were right there when others were landing. Pretty fun experience and fun to watch the kids faces. They liked everything except the "fire" inside the balloons.
